Two stops into my “100 Conversations Tour” - Westford and Groton.

How many people showed up in Westford?

One.

How about Groton?

One.

In Westford, that one conversation mattered.

We disagreed on several issues, but we shared the same concerns: how do we actually deliver practical solutions for working families?

In Groton, I met a couple from Ayer. We talked about 1992 - the year I came to the U.S. - and the presidential race between George H. W. Bush and Bill Clinton.

Different parties. Different views. But both served the country, and later became friends.

That stayed with me.

I also had a thoughtful conversation with a Groton resident about the everyday pressures people are facing: housing costs, energy bills, property taxes.

No crowds. Just conversations, one at a time.
